NCT-BAR LOCKS & RE-BAR COUPLERS

NCT Re-Bar Couplers are designed to join the reinforcement bars. The traditional method of connecting reinforcement bars with lap joints continuity in reinforced concrete need not be always appropriate. Advantages of simplicity and economy in lap splicing is limited to smaller diameter bars. NCT mechanical couplers offer the solution for splicing when large diameter bars are involved.

NCT RE-BAR couplers reduce rebar congestion and improve concrete flow & consolidation. Offer greater flexibility in design options. The simplicity in detailing of reinforcement, particularly in reinforcement congestion zones minimizes the reinforcement fixing errors, detailing and fixing of seismic reinforcement becomes effortless. Workability with higher steel-to-concrete ratio allows optimum sizing of RCC structural members.

NCT Re-BAR coupler offers quality, cost and time saving. Fixing couplers requires no special skills or equipments. Simple mechanical ways in adopting mechanical splicing compared to lapping accelerates construction schedules for optimum cost and efficiency.

Handling the rebar in convenient sizes saves on valuable crane time. It is economical to use couplers for higher diameter rebar as it saves on considerable weight and rebar wastage. Special application for micro-piling, piling, slope protection, pre-cast concrete, slip-forming, formwork protection; top-down construction makes NCT coupler as a part of any major project.

NCT CouplerNCT Standard Couplers are designed to join the reinforcement bars where at least one of the bars could be rotated. The threaded design of coupler helps easy engagement of the bar within the coupler with simple alignment.

The standard threaded coupler comprises of internally threaded sleeve with two right handed threads tapering mid length of coupler. The bar ends to be joined are saw cut and threading is provided on bar ends with proprietary branded threading equipment and thread cutting devices. The bars are connected initially by hand tightening and then with pipe wrench (torque wrench may be preferred)

NCT Coupler
The Re-BAR system provides butt joint when the bar threading is fully engaged with coupler by appropriate tightening. The Re-BAR Joining complies with BS-8110 Part 1, 1989 & BS-5400 Part 4, 1990 andACI-318.

The NCT re-bar couplers are supplied with internal thread protection plastic cap; The compact design of coupler ensures that no extra concrete cover is demanded for coupler protection.

NCT Transition Coupler
Transition couplers are designed to join different diameter bars. The tensile strength of the joints matches requirement for tensile failure of smaller diamater bar.

NCT-Reinforcement Bar Couplers Concrete Solution for your construction projects

 Methods and apparatus for making and assembling reliable NCT Re-bar couplers so that a short up stand of rebar that protrudes from an existing concrete structure can be connected to a new rebar at a retrofit work site out in the field so as to provide a connection between a new and the existing structure. According to a first embodiment, one end of the protruding up stand is upset, and a threaded male coupling member surrounds the protruding up stand behind the upset end thereof. The threaded male coupling member is mated to a threaded female coupling member that is affixed to the new rebar such that the upset end of the up stand is retained between the male and female coupling members. According to a second embodiment, one end of each of the protruding up stand and the new rebar is upset, and a threaded male coupling member surrounds the protruding up stand and the new rebar behind the respective upset ends thereof. The threaded male coupling members are then mated to opposite threaded ends of a NCT Re- BAR COUPLER female member so that the upset ends of the protruding up stand and the new rebar are retained at the interior of the female coupling member.

Installation of NCT Re- Bar Couplers

 Good quality shear cut bars with sharp perpendicular cutting or saw cutting may be used. The threading is provided on bar ends with proprietary branded threading equipment and thread cutting tools.

 Threading of reinforcement bars must be carried out as per NCT RE-BAR COUPLERS by trained operator. The thread checking gauge is used for checking the threads. The threads shall be covered by thread protection plastic cap while storing.

 The bent bars may be threaded on threading machine provided straight length of the bent bar-end to be threaded is more than 0.5 m. If not so, the bars may be threaded in straight lengths, connected thoroughly and bar bending is carried out subsequently. The bent must be minimum 100mm apart from thread bar end.

 The bar is connected to coupler sleeve initially by hand tightening and then with pipe wrench.

 The NCT RE- BAR Couplers full strength threaded butt joining that achieves strength with fully engaged threading of coupler and reinforcement bars. Therefore, it is essential to ensure adequate tightening of joining connection for effective load transfer.
